When I was a little girl, the mere sight of scrubs on hospital staff creeps me out. To me they are the physical representation of the death and disease that lingers in the air of the institution. It was the complete opposite with others. Lab coats and nursing uniforms spell comfort in ways beyond words. They are seen as hope to those who need it.
Over the years, that comfort was later paired with a sense of security when it comes to hygiene and sanitation. Some establishments use scrub uniforms in place of a traditional company uniform. It projects a more professional feel to the service rendered by the individual. Just like when you are ill in the hospital and a staff in scrubs with a clipboard comes up to you, you can be assured that he is competent and properly trained. It has inadvertently evolved into something that bears honour, a positive stereotype among those who need to don the outfit daily. It is the modern day emblem of the sense of well being that doctors convey to their patients, except it is more down to earth, less elitist but highly respectable.
