Hide And Seek

I was surfing YouTube and I saw this video from the 90′s that made me laugh and realize, “Yeah, the early 90′s was pretty much like that – like the late 80′s”.  It was Pajama Party’s “Hide and Seek”, and try to imagine the drums and very rhythmic beats, and of course, the lyrics.  The lyrics make the most of the late 80s-early 90s music because it’s unbelievably, well, it’s unbelievably cliché. Look at the chorus of Hide and Seek:

Baby put your love on me

Just open up, don’t play hide and seek

Show me so that I can see

What’s on your mind? Don’t play hide and seek

This, and their first single “Yo No Se”, became popular dance hits of the time. Sure enough, in the music video of this song you have got Lynne Critelli, Marialisa Costanzo (a former dancer in one of the shows MTV had at that time) and a pink-haired Daphne Rubin-Vega (yes, the same Daphne Rubin-Vega from Broadway’s Rent and the recently shown Bernarda Alba) moving to the easy choreography which was effortlessly became a dance craze.  Look for the video or listen to the song and get a healthy dose of nostalgia.
