Take Me To The Ball Game

I never thought I would play ball in uni.  As early as freshman year, I have already abhorred the gym program that is required of all students.  As you progress, you get a different module.  First you have team sports then swimming, and dancing to name a few.  I was sporty to a certain level but I never really thought I would be in the women’s softball team.

That is how I got introduced into the world of baseball.  In uni, girls played softball and boys played baseball.  We had one coach and we would all train together in the field, same time, everyday.  This is how I met the legendary Mark McGwire.  Not in person of course, but as the seasoned baseball god.  Someone with such statistics as Big Mac will make you wonder if it is pure talent or synthetics had a role behind those numbers.

It was not long before my worst fears were realised.  Big Mac admitted to using the dietary supplement androstenedione which is classified as anabolic steroid back in 1998.  This was up for a considerable debate since androstenedione is barely anabolic. He expressed deep remorse over what he had done.  Big Mac is not the first and he will not be the last to use steroids in baseball.

Not all steroids are dangerous.  Anavar for one was first introduced as treatment for muscular diseases.  If anyone is familiar with Ben Watt from Everything But The Girl, it is common knowledge that he suffered from a rare auto immune disease that destroys muscular tissue as part of its pathology.  Steroids are also used to relieve severe cases of asthma and psoriasis.  Anabolic steroids like Anavar acts as a muscle vitamin, making muscles stronger and tougher.  It is ideal for long term use since it takes time for results to show so it is easier to control overtime.  It is also widely available to consumers, you can even buy steroids online.
